Books I Read This Summer!
About Mrs. Johnson!!
I grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
My undergraduate degree from Iowa State University (Ames, IA) is in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in English. Go Cyclones!! (Yes, that's the school mascot--Cy, the Cyclone--the red bird with the tornado butt.)
I worked as a professional magazine editor before becoming a teacher. I was the managing editor of LAW & ORDER magazine, a monthly publication for law enforcement professionals. If you want to know about body armor or how the insects on a dead body help investigators tell time of death, I'm your girl!
My Master in Arts of Teaching (MAT) degree is from National Louis University in Evanston, IL.
My first teaching job was at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine, IL. I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Literature.
I continued to work in the professional publishing world as the editor-in-chief of a newsletter for the not-for-profit organization Mothers & More.
I have been at Freedom Middle School since we opened in 2005. Go Patriots!!
I live with my family--a husband, two children, and Mo and Elroy (both Pugs; we rescued Elroy as a puppy and he is blind)--in Riverside.
I love to garden and read. I'm a big Chicago baseball and football fan.
I love my new SMART Board!!
